SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock borough celebrated a big weekend with their annual VillageFest event, which coincided with the university's Family and Friends weekend.

Main Street was again packed Saturday with thousands of borough residents, students and visitors, who enjoyed craft vendors, live music and other activities during the annual VillageFest event.

More than 100 vendors and civic organizations lined the street, selling wares or educating the public on other events and programs in the community.

Tom McPherson, event organizer, said because of the sunny and warm weather, it was estimated that 5,000 to 7,000 people attended the 15th annual event.

“It's a family event,” he said. “We have something for everyone. This is an event to bring people into Slippery Rock to see what we have to offer as far as our community, our businesses and bringing people from other parts of Butler County north.”
