Tobie Jackson

Tobie Jackson, 69, of Butler, passed away Aug. 5.

He was the husband of Gloria Raiders Jackson; the father of Jon (Jessica) Jackson of Minnesota, Tracy Jackson of Cairo, Mich., Priscilla Jackson of Toledo, Ohio, Dawn (Cary) Wells of Clarksville, Ohio, Samantha (Matthew) Zabicki and Christopher and Daniel Cunningham, both of Butler; the grandfather of 12; the great-grandfather of eight; the son-in-law of George T. Raiders Sr.; and the brother-in-law of George T. Raiders Jr.

He is also survived by his beloved beagle, Lemon.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Cunningham; his parents, John A. and Dorothy Johnson Jackson; and mother-in-law, Gloria Raiders.

Tobie enjoyed fishing trips, visiting flea markets, attending festivals and watching football and basketball games with his father-in-law. He also liked to listen to music, watch western and horror films, and he liked classic cars.

Tobie was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the Marine Corps, earning a Bronze Star with Combat “V,” a Purple Heart and a Presidential Unit Citation as a Field Radio Operator with Company 1, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines.

His heroic achievements while under fire saved many lives.
