Man charged with drunken driving
A Cranberry Township man was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop.
Penn Township police said they spotted Ezequiel P. Ramirez, 25, around 12:25 a.m. on Aug. 13 in a pickup truck in the parking lot of a closed business.
When an officer pulled into the lot, according to court documents, the defendant drove north on Route 8. The officer caught up and pulled Ramirez over.
The defendant, who appeared to be intoxicated, claimed he could not understand English and showed his green card from Mexico, documents said.
When the officer, speaking in Spanish, asked Ramirez his birth date, he shrugged. He was arrested and taken to the police station for a breath test.
The officer made contact with an Arizona police department, which provided a translator.
A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
