Edward J. Laughner

Edward J. Laughner, 70, of Philipsburg, Pa., formerly of Akron, Ohio, and in his younger years of the village of Mount Chestnut, passed away Friday after a long illness.

Born Nov. 11, 1946, in Butler, he was the son of the late Jack V. and Helen Jerry Laughner.

He was Presbyterian by faith.

Ed was a 1964 graduate of Slippery Rock High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Youngstown University and his master's degrees from Ohio State University and Kent State University. He was a faculty Emeritus of the University of Akron.

He is survived by his siblings, Margaret (Larry) Martz of Port Matilda and Richard (Esta Mae) Laughner of Butler; his niece, Jamie (Nicholas) DeWitt; and his nephew, Jesse Laughner.

LAUGHNER — The family of Edward J. Laughner, who died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, is planning a memorial service later with interment at Mount Chestnut Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.Cremation services were entrusted to Edward L.
