Students are returning to Butler Intermediate High School at this hour after a midday bomb threat was investigated.

BUTLER — About 1,500 students were walked from Butler Intermediate High School to Butler Senior High School after a bomb threat was made at the IHS.

The intermediate high school contains students in grades 7, 8 and 9.

Superintendent Brian White said at the noon hour on Friday that the students were moved to the high school instead of outside on the property because of overcast weather at the time.

White said the bomb threat was found inside the school, but could not give details on where or when it was found because of the ongoing investigation.

A determination on whether students will return to class or be sent home will be made as soon as possible, White said. The students were moved next door just before noon.

White said administrators will work with police to investigate the bomb threat.

“It is not productive for education when students are not in class,” he said.
