Miriam Davis Schellhaas
Miriam Davis Schellhaas, 93, of Gibsonia died peacefully Friday.
Beloved wife of the late Henry “Jack” Schellhaas IV; the loving mother of Mary (Gilbert) Gust and Virginia (Clifford) Neiger; the cherished grandmother of Steven Gust, Kelly (Chris) Weaver, Christopher (Laura) Neiger and Kelsey (Richard) Cattley. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Andrew, Lillian, Clara and Jack.
Miriam was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, a past member of the Richland Civic Club, the Order of Eastern Star and first president of the Perry Highland Junior Women's Club.
Miriam graduated one year early from South Hills High School and later from Pennsylvania College for Women (Chatham). She worked for Koppers after graduation as an executive secretary.
She was active in Passavant's Richland Auxiliary and as a “pink lady” volunteer at the hospital. She was a parent volunteer for Pine Richland School District. She was renowned for her holiday dinners, picnics and baking, especially her Christmas cookies.
For years Mom was a familiar sight greeting people with Dad at the door of the Bakerstown Funeral Home.
SCHELLHAAS — Friends of Miriam Davis Schellhaas, who died Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, received 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown. The Rev. Paul Becker and the Rev. Donn Ed are co-officiating.
