Margaret J. “Peg” Puklavec

Margaret J. “Peg” Puklavec, 90, formerly of Liberty Township, Mercer County, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Windy Hill Village, Phillipsburg, Pa.

Peg was born May 19, 1927, in Joffre, Smith Township, Washington County, to Louis and Antonia Lira Nicoletto. She married Charles Angelo Puklavec on June 13, 1946, who preceded her in death May 21, 1976.

Peg was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse's aid for six years until 1975 at the former Bashline Hospital in Grove City. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of Slippery Rock, Christian Mothers of the Church and a former member of Blue Army of the Church.

Peg wanted everyone to know “she is no longer looking for an eligible bachelor.” She always wanted to be a comedian and make people laugh. She enjoyed going out for potato pancakes and loved the staff at Perkins, where she was known as “The Pancake Lady.”

She loved cooking and often fed people who stopped by.

Survivors include her son, Charles A. Puklavec of West Newton, Pa.; two daughters, Charlotte A. Tatum and her husband, Henry A., of Coalport, Pa., and Mary Ann Haverlack of Cranberry Township; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Angelina Sansone and Alice Passami; and three brothers, John, Louis “Jim” and Severino.

PUKLAVEC — Family of Margaret J. “Peg” Puklavec, who died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, will receive friends for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Father Robert Seaman pastor of St. Peter presiding. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township, Mercer County.Memorial contributions may be given to Meals on Wheels or St. Peter's Christian Mothers.
