Iron Mountain expanding in Butler County

Main entrance to the Iron Mountain facility

Iron Mountain opened the doors of its Guardian Gateway facility, a new 11,600-square-foot customer welcome center at its underground campus in Boyers in Marion Township on Tuesday.

Iron Mountain, an international business for storing and protecting information and data, marked the opening of the center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tour.

The $4.5 million facility was constructed to enhance the location's physical security capabilities and the security of customers' shipments to the campus, which is located within a former limestone mine located 220-feet underground.

The new facility has conference rooms, office space, a lounge and kitchen and extended parking along with 5,600-square-foot shipping and receiving area adjacent to the welcome center.

This new space is the third phase of a five-phase project that started in 2013 to increase the data center's presence.

A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
