Marion Twp. man sets accidental shed fire
MARION TWP — What started out as a do-it-yourself extermination project Tuesday night ended in a bee bumble.
The seemingly simple plan was to light a broom on fire and poke the makeshift torch near the roof of a shed on Route 308 in Marion Township to get rid of a bees' nest.
“It didn't work,” said Chief Joe Fitzgerald of the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Instead of burning out the bees, the owner accidentally caught the structure on fire.
The 911 call came in at 8:19 p.m. A crew was quickly on scene, about one mile north of Boyers, and the fire was out in no time.
Lucky for the owner, sort of.
A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
