William D. “Bill” Merkle
William D. “Bill” Merkle, 81, of Washington, Pa., died Tuesday at the Hospice at the Donnell House.
He was born Feb. 22, 1936, in Harrisville, Pa., son of William L. and Eleanor Merkle.
Bill spent much of his working life with Culligan Water Conditioning and was affectionately known as “The Culligan Man.”
Mr. Merkle was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
On July 5, 1957, he married Nancy L. Merkle, who survives. On July 5 they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Also surviving are his brother, Paul (Ginny) Merkle of Harrisville, Pa.; his son, Todd (Jenni) Merkle of Illinois; and his daughter, Nancy Merkle of Ohio.
He was blessed with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by two of his children, his son, Bill (Sherry) Merkle; and his daughter, Tammy (Ray) Ealy, both of Washington, Pa.
