Helen Ruth Shelstad

Helen Ruth Shelstad, 90, of Evans City, passed away Thursday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Cabot.

Born April 5, 1927, in Redwood Falls, Minn., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Marie Rhode Siedschlag.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Prospect.

Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her children, Diane Marie (Rob Gully) Shelstad of Clarksville, Pa., Ruth (Mark) Kostrab of Perry, Ohio, LeVerne Shelstad of Portersville, Scott Shelstad of Mentor, Ohio, and Oscar (Edna) Shelstad of Butler; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren; her brother, Allan Siedschlag of Minnesota; her sister, Goldie Stone of South Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LeVerne Arnold Shelstad, whom she married Dec. 19, 1945, and who died Feb. 8, 2013; two daughters; one son; one granddaughter; three brothers; and four sisters.

SHELSTAD — Visitation for Helen Ruth Shelstad, who died Thursday, July 6, 2017, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, corner of Perry and Church streets, Prospect, with the Rev. Gary Brown, her church pastor, officiating.
