Jerome “Jerry” Melvin Weakland

Jerome “Jerry” Melvin Weakland, 86, of Palm Harbor, Fla., formerly of Evans City, passed away Sunday at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center.

Born Jan. 23, 1931, Jerry was the son of the late Cyril and Evelyn Schmittle Weakland. He was the brother of Ronald (Mary Ann) Weakland of State College, Pa., Marlene (Jim) Kollar of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Donna (Joseph Dennis) of Morton, Ill.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years Doris (Roth) Weakland; six of their seven children, Patrick (Lynda) Weakland of Evans City, Mary Weakland of Pittsburgh, Carl Weakland of Export, Pa., Paul (Jodi) Weakland of Millersville, Md., Jill (Peter) Hennessey of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Eric (Jodi) Weakland of Mount Airy, Md.; and our dear friend Karen Thiebaud.

He also is survived by eight grandchildren, Sydney, Dominique and Ryan Weakland, Amanda and Matthew Hennessey, and Rigel, Austin and Deckard Weakland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Pamela Marie.

Jerry was a loving father and husband. He graduated from Robert Morris University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He was a salesman of industrial heating and water filtration systems for Dravo Corp. of Pittsburgh for 30 years. He then founded his own company, Pensco, providing the same products and services for another 20 years. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran, an amateur pilot, an avid golfer and a gentleman farmer.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

WEAKLAND — Friends of Jerome “Jerry” Melvin Weakland, who died Sunday, July 2, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to St. Matthias Catholic Church, 417 E. Main St., Evans City, PA 16033.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
