Douglas Henry Voss
Douglas Henry Voss, 58, of Mt. Holly Springs died Saturday of heart failure.
He exceeded the doctors' predictions for his life span by more than 30 years.
He was born Sept. 7, 1958, in Burlington, Iowa, to the late Dr. Donald Voss, and Betty Voss.
He was a 1981 graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School and in recent years had retired from the Center for Industrial Training in Mechanicsburg. He attended the CPARC Lifetime program. He was a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his devoted and loving mother; his sisters, Erica Voss Meloy and Kerry Voss Smith; his brother-in-law, Dave Meloy; his niece, Caitlyn Smith; his housemates; and countless friends in the area.
Doug could work a room like no one's business, and was particularly adept at giving people a heads up that his birthday was approaching. He was equally adept at remembering everyone else's birthday as well.
Known for his encyclopedic knowledge of subjects far and wide, he was interested in Westerns and all things Native American, classic TV shows, and rock music. In sibling debates, he chose the Rolling Stones over the Beatles. Doug was a master punster, an animal whisperer and always appreciative of a holiday meal. His tender heart gave out too soon.
The family wishes to thank Lisa Cook, Jennifer Anthony Speelman, KayLee Young and the entire CPARC team, for the many, many kindnesses they extended to Doug. You made his life better.
