Philip L. Souzer

Philip L. Souzer, 70, of Butler passed away on Thursday at his residence.

He was born Dec. 2, 1946, in Butler to the late Philip Souzer and the late Pauline Baptiste Souzer.

Philip served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a crane operator at AK Steel before retiring in 2005.

Philip loved the Lord dearly and was a member of North Street Christian Church. He was a strong and sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 40 years.

Philip loved the outdoors, fishing, baseball, the Pittsburgh Pirates, painting and drawing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah, whom he married on June 1, 1985; one son, Thomas Louis Souzer of Pittsburgh; one daughter, Rebekah Catherine Souzer of Butler; two brothers, Daryl (Pam) Souzer of Sanford, Maine, and Marty (Malene) Baptiste of Chicora; two sisters, Amy (Larry) Johnston of Virginia Beach, Va. and Patty (Jim) Bergbigler of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Pauline Souzer.

SOUZER — Friends of Philip L. Souzer, who died Thursday, June 8, 2017, will be received 6:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at North Street Christian Church, 220 W. North St., Butler.A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Pastor Robert C. Huber officiating.Officers and members of the American Legion Post #117 Butler, the American Legion Post # 778 Lyndora and the VFW Post #249 Butler will be conducting military honors.Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
