In life you were our buddy

Your death was just a joke.

You were right beside us

You whispered soft and low,

Hang in there kids, I’m with you

You’ll never be alone.

God said, “I’m with you always”

It’s written on our stone

I see your shadows on the wall

Your knock upon the door.

We watched them bury your coffin

We knew you weren’t there.

You were right beside us

In the empty chair.

Your chair still sits here empty

We feel your presence near.

No one could ever fill it

It will always sit right there

We see your smiling face

We know you are right here

Sitting right beside us

In the empty chair.
