Ella Elizabeth Hoover

Ella Elizabeth Hoover, 91, of Campground Road, Mercer Township, Harrisville, passed away Sunday at Grove City Medical Center.

Ella was born May 14, 1926, in West Liberty Boro, Butler County, to Joseph Albert Castor and Nellie Belle (Steele) Castor.

She married Martin Verel Hoover March 12, 1948. He preceded her in death March 6, 2014.

She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Ella had been a member of Harrisville United Methodist Church. In earlier years, she was active in sports and had coached the girls softball team in Prospect, had served as president of the Football Mother's Club of Slippery Rock High School, and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Survivors include four sons, Randy Lee Hoover and companion, Anna Belle Eichler of Zelienople, Michael James and wife Vivian Hoover of Glide, Ore., Richard Lynn and wife, Diane Hoover of Slippery Rock and Martin Joe and wife Karen Hoover of Prospect; daughter Lori Farris and companion James Peters of Harrisville; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

HOOVER — Friends of Ella Elizabeth Hoover, who died Sunday, June 4, 2017, will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse presiding.Interment will be at Slippery Rock Cemetery.
