Karen E. McGrady

Karen E. McGrady, 67, of Worthington, passed into eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday at the Butler VNA Hospice after an extended battle with cancer.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1949, to Glenn and Rhea (Kissick) Grafton.

Karen was a graduate of Freeport High School where she was an accomplished vocalist in the chorus and participated in the Pennsylvania All-State Chorus.

Karen was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of Bright Hope Community Church in Butler, where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher, in the nursery and sang as part of the Worship Team.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, spending time with her family, music, cooking, baking, farming, gardening, watching her grandchildren participate in sports, plays, musicals, and taekwondo.

She was a supporter of the pro-life cause and shared her faith in Jesus Christ with people everywhere. She was a stay-at-home mom who poured her life and her faith into her children and grandchildren. She also worked as an art teacher at Grace Christian School.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Lt. Col. Richard B. McGrady.

She is survived by a daughter Andrea B. and R. Scott Petras of Worthington and a son Christopher R. (Justi) McGrady of Butler.

She was a beloved nanny to her seven grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Erica and Michael Petras, and Gavin, Mia and Josi McGrady.

She is also survived by a sister Sandra Grafton of Louisville, Ky.; and three brothers, Timothy (Darla) Grafton of Worthington, Gary (Cynthia) Grafton of Parker, and Kevin Grafton of Freeport; and by many nephews and nieces whom she loved.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Rhea (Kissick) Grafton and by a son Nathan Daniel McGrady.

MC GRADY — Friends of Karen E. McGrady who died Saturday, June 3, 2017, will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bright Hope Community Church, 4101 Highland Avenue, Butler, with the Rev. Paul Hoover and the Rev. Chris McGrady officiating. Interment will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Bright Hope Community Church, 4101 Highland Avenue, Butler, PA 16001 and to Grace Christian School, 215 Arthur Street, Kittanning, PA 16201.
