Portersville man charged with attempted homicide

MUDDY CREEK TWP — A Portersville man was charged with attempted homicide following an incident Monday night, according to state police.

Paul J. Harper, 70, allegedly went to the victim's residence at 1634 Perry Highway at around 10:30 p.m. He was allegedly armed with a shotgun and the police report states that he knocked on the victim's door. He then fired multiple times, police said.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, but is expected to live.

The report states that Harper was angry that he had sold the victim a car about one year ago, and that the victim was selling the car for more money than he had bought it.

Harper is in Butler County Prison awaiting arraignment.
