Route 308 bridge to close for construction
CENTER TWP — The Route 308 bridge will be replaced under a new state program that accelerates similar projects. Work is expected to be complete by mid-August.
The bridge, which spans a tributary to Stony Run, will be replaced as part of PennDOT's Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Construction is set to begin the week of July 10. A detour using Route 8 and Mahood Road will be posted.
Weather and various factors could change the construction schedule. Replacement of the bridge will result in PennDOT removing it from the county's structurally deficient bridge list.
The construction is funded by a public-private partnership (P3) PennDOT has with Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners, which will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridge for 25 years.
The bridge is one of 558 bridges being worked on under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
