FedEx partners with Pens
CRANBERRY TWP — FedEx announced a partnership with the Penguins Wednesday to sponsor one of the ice rinks at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
The FedExRink will be used for open skates, youth hockey programs, community skates, camps, clinics, tournaments and leagues.
“We thank you so much,” said Bill Guerin, assistant general manager of the Penguins. “It's incredible to have a company like this get involved as a grassroots level.”
This is the first sponsor the rink has had. The other rink that the Penguins usually practice on is sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods.
FedEx Supply Chain, one of FedEx's subsidiaries, also cut the ribbon on its new corporate headquarters in the Cranberry Woods development on Wednesday afternoon.
More than 400 FedEx Supply Chain employees work in the old Verizon building at 700 Cranberry Woods Drive, said Art Smuck, president and CEO of FedEx Supply Chain. FedEx Supply Chain, a third-party logistics provider, was formed in 2015 after FedEx bought GENCO and rebranded it.
