Mable Mary Shull Bartmas

Mable Mary Shull Bartmas, 87, of Butler died Monday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Butler on Feb. 28, 1930, to the late William A. and Alice Young Shull.

She attended GraceWay Community Church, Butler, and was a lifelong member of the Jefferson Grange.

She was formerly employed by the Singer Sewing Machine Co. and Kresge’s Department Store.

Mrs. Bartmas enjoyed crocheting, crafts, birds, flowers and gardening. She also liked to attend bingo outings with her daughter Joy and her close friend, Bobbie Taylor. In her younger days she traveled with her husband to area churches and accompanied him on the piano while he sang gospel music.

Mrs. Bartmas is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia L. Carter and her husband, Gerald, of Apollo, and Valli J. Logan and Joy D. Hays, both of Butler; and five grandchildren, Emily Gureckis of New Hampshire, Christy Borch of Seven Valleys, Richard Logan III and Raymond “Ryan” Hays Jr., both of Butler, and Trevor Hays of Brackenridge.

She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and her good friend, Tyler Trimbur, who was like a grandson to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Paul Bartmas, who passed away Aug. 17, 2007; one granddaughter, Angel Hays; her brother and his wife, William and Lois Shull; and one sister, Chervyl Greene.

BARTMAS — Friends of Mable Mary Shull Bartmas who died Monday, May 22, 2017, will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave West of GraceWay Community Church officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Butler.
