Distressed town's records sought

CHESWICK — A borough with a pension debt of more than $500,000 had its records subpoenaed by a federal grand jury and its offices searched by the FBI and district attorney’s office.

Cheswick Borough Secretary Andy Bock confirmed Tuesday’s search to a Pittsburgh newspaper.

Council President Paul Jack told the newspaper investigators are conducting a forensic audit, which borough officials wanted to do themselves anyway. The FBI and Allegheny County DA’s office didn’t immediately comment on the subpoena.
