Beatrice “Bea” V. Thomas

Beatrice “Bea” V. Thomas, 74, of East Butler passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler on July 11, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Lucian and Julia Prokopchak Cuny.

Bea retired in 2003 from the housekeeping department of Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

She enjoyed bingo, casino trips and bowling. She belonged to the East Butler Fireman's Bowling League.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Thomas Sr. They married on Feb. 23, 1963.

She also is survived by two sons, James A. Thomas Jr. and his wife, Lee Ann, of Karns City, and Bruce D. Thomas of Butler; one daughter, Arlene R. Widenhofer, and her husband, Walter, of Butler; two brothers, Paul Cuny and his wife, Sandy, of Butler, and Doug Cuny and his wife, Jean, of Butler; one sister, Chris Plofchan, and her husband, George, of East Butler; and four grandchildren, Trevor Thomas of Karns City and Tyler, Tori, and Tanner Widenhofer of Butler.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Widenhofer; her parents, Lucian and Julia Prokopchak Cuny; and her in-laws, Harry and Martha Thomas.

THOMAS — Friends of Beatrice “Bea” V. Thomas, who died Friday, May 19, 2017, will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, followed by entombment in St. Michael Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to East Butler VFD Ambulance, P.O. Box 162, East Butler, PA 16029.
