Arthur J. Dandoy

Arthur J. Dandoy, 88, of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born March 5, 1929, in Butler to the late George Paul Dandoy and Esther Levere Elliott Dandoy.

Art was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1947. He was employed at Franklin Glass Corp. from 1949 to 1964. Art then worked as a Butler City Police officer from 1964, retiring in 1988 as a sergeant. Art was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a member of the Butler County Law Enforcement Organization and the United Commercial Travelers Butler Council 465.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Art was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Residents' Council at Sunnyview and served as president of the council and also as a peer mentor. Art was an avid, lifelong Pirates fan. He was a lover of country music, especially Johnny Cash, and a western movie fan, in particular the movies of John Wayne.

He is survived by one son, Robert A. Dandoy, and his wife, Julie, of Butler; two daughters, Mary Ann Dandoy of Butler and Arlene Roth and her husband, Jeff, of Butler; three grandchildren, Jessica Matonak and her husband, Dirk, Justin Dandoy and his wife, Correy, and Samantha Roth; one great-grandchild, Eden Matonak; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie T. Dandoy, whom he married July 27, 1950, and who died May 23, 1999; one brother; and one sister.

DANDOY — Friends of Arthur J. Dandoy, who died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz as celebrant.Burial will take place at the Butler County Memorial Park.Online condolences may be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
