AVON, Conn. — The Avon Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post it was dispatched to a church for a bus fire on June 10.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a trolley bus with an engine compartment fire. The bus driver had already extinguished the fire, but the wedding party was left without a ride to the reception.

Firefighters offered the newlyweds a lift. Photos show the couple all smiles as they rode in the firetruck. The department said they made it to their reception on time.
