Jeannette V. Garing

Jeannette V. Garing, 85, formerly of Boulder, Colo., died May 6 at a Paradise for Parents Assisted Living in Goodyear, Ariz.

She was born Jeannette V. Ellenberger on March 27, 1932, in Butler County, the daughter of Virginia Crooks and Leroy Ellenberger. She grew up in Karns City, where she attended and graduated from Fairview High School in 1950.

Jeannette was united in marriage to Herbert H. Garing on Dec. 22, 1952, in Karns City. They moved to Washington, D.C., then to Boulder in 1963. Jeannette and Herb both worked in the Cryogenics Department of the National Bureau of Standards, now known as National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder. After leaving the N.B.S., she worked at the National Ocean and Atmospheric Association in Boulder. Herbert preceded her in death in 1984.

The past 20 years of her life were spent in Arizona, where she moved predominantly for the square dancing. It was her passion. She enjoyed the time visiting with friends and was equally dedicated to her family.

Surviving family members include her son, Kenneth Garing, and his wife, Cynthia, of Boulder; and her granddaughter, Kelsey Garing of League City, Texas.

Also surviving are her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Crawley of Castle Rock, Colo.; and her stepsister, Ethel Jewart of Chicora.

GARING — A private burial for Jeannette V.
