Mark G. Snyder

Mark G. Snyder, 50, formerly of Meridian, passed from this life after losing his battle to cancer Nov. 23, 2016, while living in Okinawa, Japan.

He was born March 1, 1966, in Butler.

Mark grew up and was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Butler. He graduated from Butler Area High School in 1984, and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Mark worked as a civilian on military bases in Seoul, Korea, and Okinawa, Japan, for the past 25 years. His pastimes included reading and sketching. He was an avid “Star Wars” fan and especially loved participating in several Internet forums making difficult models of “Star Wars” ships.

Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Jeong Ah Hwang Snyder of Okinawa, Japan; his son from his first marriage, Alexander P. Snyder of Richmond, Va.; his parents, Susan (Robb) Snyder Stephenson of Morehead, Ky., and George H. (Kathy) Snyder of Butler; one brother, Dr. Steven D. (Dr. Ming Hui Kuo) Snyder of Greencastle, Ind.; his half siblings, Jennifer (Darryl) Lesnick of Pittsburgh and Benjamin J. (Susan) Snyder of Grove City, Ohio; his aunt, Denise (Robb) Ruffo of Sharpsville; two uncles, Robert C. (Martha) Robb of Renfrew and David E. (Darlene) Snyder of Winterhaven, Fla.; and four nieces and nephews.

SNYDER — A funeral service for Mark G. Snyder, who died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, was conducted Nov. 28 in Okinawa, Japan.
