Deborah A. Apple died May 6.

Born Deborah Southerland Allen, Dec. 24, 1927, in Wilmington, Del., she was formerly Deborah A. Greenough.

Following her parents, Elizabeth Southerland and Charles Layton Allen; her brother, Layton Southerland Allen; her husbands, William Devine Greenough and Jack Calvin Apple; and her grandson, Benjamin Layton Simons.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Layton Greenough of Venice Fla., William Devine Greenough Jr. of Amherst, N.H., David Southerland Greenough of Oyster Bay, N.Y., and Charles Layton Greenough of Seabrook, N.H.; her grandchildren, Maxwell Bennett Simons and William Louis Harrison Simons of Pittsburgh; and Jack's daughter, Judith Apple Stewart of Montgomery, Ala.; her grandson, Robert Jolly, Birmingham, Ala.; her sister-in-law, Anne Landon Allen of Chestertown, Md.; her nieces and nephews, Alison and Layton Southerland Allen Jr. of Smithfield, Va., Martha (PJ) Bragg and John Salmonson of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Lyn and George Landon Allen of Elsmere, Del., and Kim and Richard Lockwood Allen of Newark, Del.; and her cousin, David Hollingsworth of Wilmington, Del.
