Cranberry man accused of choking girlfriend

CRANBERRY TWP — A township man remains jailed on charges he strangled his girlfriend and would not allow her to leave his home during a domestic altercation last week.

Jonathan A. Wheeler Jr., 30, faces a hearing later this month on felony assault and other charges in the incident Thursday night at his home on Whitetail Ridge.

Cranberry Township police were called shortly before 9 p.m. after the alleged victim, Hannah Millar, managed to get away from the defendant and call 911, according to court documents,

She told officers that Wheeler during an arguments put her in a headlock and choked her “to the point (she) felt like she was going to vomit,” a police affidavit said.

When she tried to scream, she recounted, he covered her mouth. He also is accused of hitting her in the face, buttocks and preventing her from leaving.

At one point, according to Millar's account, Wheeler got her handgun and threatened to kill himself with it, documents said.
