Pauline “Polly” E. Winchester
Pauline “Polly” E. Winchester, 84, of Rimersburg passed away Saturday at her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Jersey Shore, Pa., the daughter of Howard J. and Anna Rose Steppe Wool.
Polly was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Butler. For many years, Polly worked as a manager at Capt. John's, until she decided to become her own boss. From 1969 to 1977, she owned her own trucking company, then from 1977 to 1994 Polly owned and operated the Polly Rocket Parrot Hotel in Bradys Bend. In 1991, she opened Polly's Ice Cream and operated it until 2000.
In her spare time, Polly loved arts and crafts, playing cards and especially playing Scrabble. She also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music.
She will be deeply missed by her second husband, James Michael “Mike” Smail; two sons, Eugene “Moose” Winchester and his wife, Debbie, of Weedville, Pa., and Gordon Winchester and his wife, Alice, of Rimersburg; three daughters, Patricia Morris of Petrolia, Robin Morreti of Clarion and Debbie Mauck and her husband, Guy, of Witchita, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Walter “Hetz” Wool, George Wool, Howard “Frog” Wool Jr. and James Wool, all of Jersey Shore; four sisters, Alice Pervis, Carolyn Fisher, Anna Fink and Rose Bueno, all of Jersey Shore; her sister-in-law, Kathy Wallace and her husband, Richard, of Brookville; four stepchildren, Keli Brown and her husband, Roger, of Shippenville, Kristen Smail of Brookville, Kenneth Smail of Brookville and Kevin Smail and his wife, Jamie, of Sigel; and her beloved dog, Sunshine.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Eugene Allen Winchester, who died Dec. 4, 2004; her son, Jeffery Winchester; her grandson, Matthew H. Kelzenberg, who died while serving in the Marine Corps; one brother, Norman “Buddy” Wool; and two sisters, Mildred H. Embrick and Mary Wool.
WINCHESTER — Relatives and friends of Pauline “Polly” E. Winchester, who died Saturday, April 29, 2017, will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main St., Rimersburg, with the Rev.
