Jean M. Hickok, 86, of Grove City passed away at 10:55 p.m. Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Jean was born Oct. 6, 1930, in Wick, Pa., to the late William and Hazel Lutz Smith. She was married to Hugh J. Hickok, who preceded her in death in 1998.

Jean worked for many years as a nurse at Slippery Rock University in the infirmary.

Jean loved to quilt, as well as traveling and antiquing. After she retired, she loved to volunteer for Grove City Hospital and was very passionate about volunteering for the Slippery Rock Food Pantry. She was a longtime member of the Friendship Presbyterian Church.

Jean is survived by her three sons, Samuel Hickok of Grove City, Paul Hickok and his wife, Sharon, of Prospect and James Hickok of Wyoming; three grandchildren, Caleb Hickok and his wife, Megan, Olivia Nicklas and her husband, Cody, and Haley Wiles and her husband, Jason; three great-grandchildren, Joslyn Harris, Julia Nicklas and Justin Nicklas; her brother, Bill Smith, and his wife, Marty, of Wick; and her twin sister, Joan West of Grove City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

HICKOK — Funeral services for Jean M. Hickok, who died Friday, April 28, 2017, will be private. Interment will be at the Prairie Cemetery.A public celebration of life service will be scheduled later.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Slippery Rock Food Pantry, 324 N.
