BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — A Tennessee teen’s love for pizza has delivered acceptance at Yale University to her door.

Ravenwood High School graduate Carolina Williams was accepted to the Ivy League school in March, with an admissions officer noting her standout answer to a short-essay prompt to write about something she loves to do: order pizza from Papa John’s.

Williams says her answer was the first thing that came to mind. She also ranked in the top 10 of her graduating class and participated in multiple extracurricular activities.

She’ll be the first in her family to go to college — but will not attend Yale. She will pursue business at Auburn University, saying she felt it was a better fit and liked the scholarships.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Authorities say a dive boat captain known to hand-feed sharks was bitten by a “sea creature” off Florida’s Atlantic coast.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the agency’s marine unit responded Sunday after receiving a distress call from an Emerald Charters dive boat. They airlifted Randall Jordan to a hospital with hand injuries.

Jordan’s sister Deborah Toohey of Springhill, Florida, told the newspaper Jordan underwent “reattachment surgery.” He was listed in good condition.

She says her brother “tries to teach people to not be afraid of sharks.”

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Walt Disney World employee is accused of impersonating an FBI agent while stopping a woman on a Florida road.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputy responded when he saw 26-year-old Brett Michael Smith pull over the woman near SeaWorld’s Aquatica waterpark Saturday.

The woman didn’t initially stop after hitting an orange traffic cone when she realized the Aquatica parking lot was full. An arrest report says Smith walked up to her car at a red light and flashed his badge, saying he “worked for the FBI.”

The deputy, who was nearby, turned on his lights and parked his cruiser. The report says at first he thought the badge was real. Authorities say Smith bought the badge for Halloween.

NEW YORK — The USAA financial services firm is reinstating its advertising on Sean Hannity’s Fox News Channel program after receiving heavy criticism for its initial decision from many of the military members and veterans that it serves.

The San Antonio, Texas-based company said Tuesday it will also start advertising again on other programs where it had suspended ads, including “Hardball” and “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC, and Jake Tapper’s “The Lead” on CNN.
