Medical issue may have played role in 3-car crash

The driver of a Honda Accord may have suffered a medical issue that led to a 3-car crash on Route 228 in Adams Twp.

A medical issue may have played a part in a crash this afternoon on Route 228 in Adams Township.

Rescue officials say a Honda Accord struck the side of a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe at Route 228's intersection with the Beaver Street Extension around 1 p.m.

The Honda then drifted into the front of a stopped Range Rover in the eastbound lane.

The Honda sustained moderate front damage, the Tahoe sustained moderate side damage and the Range Rover had minor front damage.

Township police officer Mike Bordt said the driver of the Honda may have suffered a medical issue prior to the crash. The driver was transported to a medical center for treatment.

Traffic was being alternated as the westbound lane on Route 228 was closed.

Traffic resumed normal flow around 1:30 p.m.

Adams Area Fire District crews were on the scene to assist.

Charges may or may not be filed pending the results of the investigation.
