Beatrice Ann Shannon Mack

Beatrice Ann Shannon Mack

Beatrice Ann Shannon Mack, 104, of Butler passed away Thursday.

Born in 1912, in Monessen, Pa., the daughter of Roy and Susan Shannon, she died one month short of her 105th birthday. She was the loving wife of the late T. Ray Mack.

Bea was the caring and fun-loving mother of Thomas (Paula), Maureen (Ralph Weaver), James (Diane), Sheila (Larry Desjardins), Susan (Lowell Davis), William (Cynthia) and David (Jihee).

She was the fantastic grandmother of Thomas, Susan, Karen, John, Robert, Jodie, Thomas, Tammy, Terri, Tracer, David, Richie, Steven, Becky, Shelly, James, Victoria, Andre and Madeline. She made each grandchild feel like he or she was always her favorite.

She was the great-grandmother of 19 and the great-great-grandmother of four.

Bea was a nurse tending to Ray's mother when they met. As a couple, they enjoyed dancing, golf and bridge. Bea also enjoyed painting, and her children are the recipients of many of her works.

After Ray's passing she continued playing golf, shooting a hole-in-one at age 87 and becoming the 9-hole champion at age 89. She also continued playing bridge until she was 103 and loved nothing more than setting someone, especially her eldest son.

The family would like to thank Rachel Hortert and the staff at Concordia at the Orchard for their wonderful care. They also want to offer a very special thank you to Bea's aides, Toni Grupp, Tracy Malinski, Carolyn Schriver, Linda Wilson, Pam Rettig and Wendy Lumley, who are angels as far as the family is concerned. They couldn't have been more encouraging and engaging or shown more loving tenderness.
