Roland W. Montag

Roland W. Montag, 96, of Cabot passed away Wednesday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born Jan. 9, 1921, in Jefferson Township, he was the son of Norman Montag and Alma Andree Montag.

Roland had served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Morse code operator.

He worked as a crane operator foreman for Allegheny Ludlum. He was a lifetime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, where he served on ministries, especially the tape ministry. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and visiting the grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Rummel Montag, who he married Oct. 11, 1953; three sons, Wayne (Bambi) Montag of Las Vegas, Nev., Eric (Debbie) Montag of Phoenix, Ariz., and Curt (Sara) Montag of Denver, Colo.; his daughter, Gail (Stephen) Healy of Manlius, N.Y.; his brother, Donald (Mary Jean) Montag of Sarver; his sister, Margaret Anderson of Cabot; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Lillian Montag

MONTAG — Friends of Roland W. Montag, who died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen officiating.
