Betty L. Kearns

Betty L. Kearns, 96, of Butler passed away after a short illness March 29 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 25, 1921, in West Sunbury, the daughter of the late Edward and Hannah Gannon Carothers.

Betty owned and operated a beauty shop in West Sunbury for 10 years before getting married and becoming a homemaker and mother. She moved to Golden, Colo., in 1974 and returned to Butler in 1992. She attended the Graceway Community Church. Betty enjoyed gardening, traveling and walking.

Surviving are her son, Dennis Kearns of Butler; two nieces; her nephew; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Ray” Kearns, whom she married March 7, 1949, and who died Dec. 22, 1977; two brothers; and one sister.

KEARNS — Interment for Betty L. Kearns, who died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, will be at the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Graceway Community Church, 950 Mercer Road, Butler, with David West officiating.Contributions may be made in her memory to the Graceway Community Church, 211 Evans City Road, Butler, PA 16001.The Young Funeral Home, 127 W.
