Walter Byron Scott

Walter Byron Scott, 100, of Cabot passed away Friday at his residence, Concordia Haven 1 in Cabot.

He was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Pittsburgh to the late Joseph Walter Scott and Ellen Katherine Englhardt Scott.

Mr. Scott attended Valley Forge Military Academy, Culver Military Academy and Drexel University. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines in World War II.

Mr. Scott was a supervisor of the painting department at the Boca Raton Hotel in Florida for many years. He later worked as a groundskeeper at Krendale Golf Course in Butler.

Mr. Scott was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Cabot.

He is survived by three daughters, Arlene Thomas of Coral Springs, Fla., Holly Daum of Leeper, Pa., and Malia Hoffstot of Palm City, Fla.; five grandchildren, Sharon Rooney Goodman of Washoe Valley, Nev., Jennifer Thomas of Parkland, Fla., Lindsey Stockland of Palm City, Fla., Christy Cresto of Delmont, Pa., and Kathleen Daum of Leeper, Pa.; and six great-grandchildren, Cameron and Morgan Goodman, Jayme and Emma Hinkle, Collin Cresto and Codi Stockland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ottilia Scott, who he married on May 26, 1946, and who passed away on Jan. 27, 2010.

SCOTT — Friends of Walter Byron Scott, who died Friday, April 21, 2017, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

The Mariners of Pennsylvania will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Barry of St. Luke Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mount Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church School, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
