David Allen Ruppert

David Allen Ruppert

David Allen Ruppert, 69, of Butler passed away Jan. 31.

He was born March 26, 1947, in Little Falls, N.Y., the son of the late Robert H. Ruppert and Clara L. Walroth Ruppert Saltsman.

David earned a degree in business education from SUNY in Albany.

Following his graduation, he was a U.S. Army specialist at the Intelligence Center in Vietnam.

After his military service, he accepted a position with Baltimore as a payroll supervisor until he retired in 1996. David was a member of the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra, the Classical Mandolin Society of America, the Mandoleers of Arlington, Va., and most recently the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra.

David was an avid bridge player in both Baltimore and Pittsburgh. He won many tournaments and earned the designation of Life Master. David was meticulous at needlepoint and leather craft.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his companion, Patricia Young.

David is survived by his cousins, Joyce Treusdell and Dawn DeCicco; and his dear friend, Betty J. Redifer.

RUPPERT — Interment of David Allen Ruppert, who died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, was in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa.

At 7 p.m. on May 13, the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra will dedicate its performance to David A. Ruppert. The concert will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland, 311 Cumberland Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
