Charles I. Ross

Charles I. Ross, 83, of Buffalo Township, passed away Wednesday at Elmcroft of Saxonburg.

Chuck was born in Lucesco, Westmoreland County, on Dec. 29, 1933, son of the late Margaret (Henry) and Howard M. Ross.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn J. Rowley Ross who passed away in 2012.

He was a member of Freeport United Methodist Church.

Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a supervisor at Saxonburg Ceramics for over 40 years. Baseball was his passion and he managed and then later umpired in both the Freeport Little League and Senior League.

He was a member of the Management Club in Butler for several years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and followed all the Pittsburgh sports teams.

Chuck is survived by his two daughters, Linda (James) Fergus and Joni (Chuck) Lauffer, both of South Buffalo Township.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Casie (Michael) Rock of Mars, Emily Linn of Allison Park, Jamie Fergus of Butler, Matthew Fergus of Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, and Eliza and Annie Lauffer of South Buffalo Township; great-granddaughter Carolyn Elizabeth Rock; and sister, Patty Baker.

In addition to his parents and wife, Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Charles R. Ross, who passed away in 2008; brothers Floyd and Howard D. Ross; and his sisters Betty Stack and Margaret Woitas.

ROSS — Family and friends of Charles I. Ross, who died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., Freeport, with the Rev. Dawn Lynn Check officiating.Burial with military honors will follow at Freeport Cemetery.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the At the Lake Ministries/WPAUMC, 1204 Freedom Road, P.O.
