Paul M. Kay

Paul M. Kay, 89, of Marion Township, Harrisville, passed away Wednesday morning in Grove Manor, Grove City, following a three-month illness.

Paul was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Grove City, to James N. and Nellie Beighley Kay. He married Delores Patton on Dec. 4, 1954. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.

He was a graduate of Harrisville High School in 1947. Paul served his country as a medical aid man in the 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon for meritorious service.

Paul was a member of the West Unity Community Church for over 50 years. He was a member of the Moniteau Ceremonial Squad, a member of the Slippery Rock American Legion Post 393, a member of the Hillards VFW Post 7840 Cherry Valley and a member of the Harrisville Lions Club for over 30 years.

Paul retired from Calcium Chloride Sales and Grove City Block and Brick in 1990 where he was employed for many years. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, Delores at home; two sons, Richard L. Kay and his wife, Betty, of Polk, Pa., and David M. Kay of Harrisville; three grandchildren, Melissa Kay of Harrisville, Michael Kay and his wife, Autum, of Harrisville and Courtney Palmer of Rock Hill, S.C.; one great-granddaughter, Tressa Sue Palmer of Rock Hill, S.C.; his brother-in-law, William Patton and his wife, Lois, of Harrisville; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Also surviving are his two favorite cats, Scampy and Tag.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.

KAY — Visitation hours for Paul M. Kay, who passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, and the family will receive friends and the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Unity Community Church, 400 Unity Road, Harrisville, with the Rev. Boyd Smith officiating. Burial will take place at the Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.Memorials may be made to the West Unity Community Church, 400 Unity Road, Harrisville, PA 16038.
