A Cranberry Township woman, accused of stealing medical supplies and medicine prescribed to a patient, was admitted to the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program during her formal arraignment in Butler County Court on Tuesday.

Jill M. Jackson, 41, was admitted to the 24-month program on the charges of misdemeanor theft and possession of a controlled substance. She was also ordered to pay costs and restitution, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow all recommendations, and complete 50 hours of community service.

The county ARD program is an alternative prosecution that includes no imprisonment and that allows all charges to be suspended and dismissed upon successful completion of the program, according to the county's website.

Jackson was charged by Adams Township police, accused of stealing catheters, IV extension tubing, an IV start pack and an Oxycodone pill from St. Barnabas' Valencia Woods Nursing Center, while she was working at the center during the midnight shift between Jan. 22 and 23.

Police reports state Jackson started work at St. Barnabas on Jan. 17 and worked four shifts before the incident occurred.

The theft was discovered after Jackson lost keys to the narcotics drug box and the keys and stolen supplies were discovered in her purse, police said.

A plastic lock to a drug cart was also found to be cut and supplies were noticed missing. An Oxycodone pill was missing from a foil packet belonging to a patient, police said.

Jackson claimed she had signed the medication out and said she gave the pill to the patient during the night, however, the patient said she did not request or receive any medication at that time, police said.
