Robert “Bob” “Killer” M. McElravy

Robert “Bob” “Killer” M. McElravy, 85, of Glenford Drive, Chicora, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday evening while surrounded by his loving wife and family at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born March 30, 1932, in Karns City, Robert was the son of the late William and Edna Hackbarth McElravy.

Bob was a 1950 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in Austria. He was an active member of the Karns City United Methodist Church, having served on the church board and participated in the men's Bible class.

Bob had been employed at Witco Chemical in Petrolia for 41 years, retiring as a carpenter foreman in 1994. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, yardwork, feeding the birds and sports, especially baseball, having coached Karns City Little League in his younger years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Cooper McElravy, who he married June 21, 1952, at the English Lutheran Church in Chicora.

Also surviving are three children, Michael J. McElravy and his wife, Mary Jo, of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Melinda M. Stroup and her husband, Jamie, of West Sunbury and Stephen W. McElravy and his wife, Kimberly, of Karns City; three grandchildren, Holly Crisman of Harrisville, Russell D. Stroup of West Sunbury and Matthew McElravy of Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Brandan Stroup of West Sunbury and Frankie Stroup of Butler; two sisters, Charlotte Kloker of Karns City and Phyllis Wigton and her husband, Donald, of Glendale, Ariz.; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, Dick and Dixie Cooper of Harrisburg; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Donald and William; and seven sisters, Dorothy, Mary, Helen, Betty, Florence, Margaret and Maxine; and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

MCELRAVY — Friends of Robert “Bob” “Killer” M. McElravy, who died Sunday, April 16, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Karns City United Methodist Church, 117 Petrolia St., Karns City, with the Rev.
