Rape defendant pleads no contest

A Renfrew man pleaded no contest in Butler County Court on Monday to three charges after it was alleged that he raped a minor in 2014.

Luke A. Blackham, 23, of Renfrew, pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and one count of corruption of minors before county Judge William Shaffer and will be sentenced later.

Blackham was initially charged with felony rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault by forcible compulsion, corruption of minors, misdemeanor indecent assault by forcible compulsion, indecent assault without consent and providing alcohol to a minor after an incident on Dec. 4, 2014, in Lyndora.

As part of the plea, the charges were changed to the simple assault counts and misdemeanor corruption of minors.

Blackham was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl he allegedly plied with alcohol.
