C. Fred Allen

C. Fred Allen, 76, of Slippery Rock passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital due to Wegener's Disease. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Clay Township. He was the son of the late Gideon R. Allen and the late Anna D. McNeish Allen. Fred served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War being stationed in Korea. Fred retired from Armco, now AK Steel, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his family.

Fred was a member of the Butler Lodge 272, AASR Valley of New Castle Scottish Rite and the Syria Shriners.

Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Tarcha Allen, who he married Oct. 18, 1963; one daughter, Kelly S. (Justin) Huff of Slippery Rock; two sons, Frederick (Nichole) Allen and Matthew D. Allen, both of Slippery; and four grandchildren, Alexis and Chase Allen and Ashton and Colton Huff. Also surviving are two sisters, Norma Cuffman and Sarah (William) Schultz, both of Butler.

Fred was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
