A Sarver man charged with threatening a police officer was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Timothy A. Gifford, 48, was sentenced before county Judge William Shaffer to 15 months probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor terroristic threats on April 5.

The charge stemmed from an incident on Scenic View Drive in Buffalo Township, after Gifford threatened a police officer at his family's home, after police responded for a call that Gifford was drunk and threatening his stepfather.

The officers also learned that Gifford was wanted on a warrant out of Mercer County.

While being arrested, Gifford told officers that he had “56 confirmed kills and that he has a .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol downstairs and then stated he knows how to use it,” a police affidavit said.

As he was being arrested, Gifford told the officer he would see him soon.
