Joyce Goepfert

Joyce Goepfert, 72, of Butler passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 25, 1944, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Fred and Kathryn Fay Harmon Wagner.

She retired in 2003, after 36 years of service, as a reading specialist employed by the Butler School District.

She received a bachelor's degree from Clarion University, a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and she was halfway to earning her doctorate.

She was a member of the Buttercup Garden Club.

Joyce loved painting, gardening and, most of all, her family.

She is survived by her husband, W. Gary Goepfert Sr., to whom she was married for 36 years; two daughters, LeeAnn Maddox of Lake Orion, Mich., and Lynn Keyser and her husband, Louis Keyser Jr., of Latrobe; one stepson, Gary Goepfert and his wife, Denise, of Butler; one brother, John Wagner and his wife, Dee, of Neptune Beach, Fla.; one granddaughter, Sydney Maddox; one stepgranddaughter, Amanda Renken; and one stepgreat-grandson, Wyatt Renken.

GOEPFERT — Friends of Joyce Goepfert, who died Monday, April 10, 2017, will be received at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday.A blessing service will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
