Suzanne “Sue” Barron
Suzanne “Sue” Barron of Slippery Rock entered eternal life Saturday.
She passed peacefully and gracefully at home surrounded by her family and close friends.
Born in Pittsburgh on Sept. 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Edward Lincoln and Grace Jane Jamison Brillhart.
A 1955 graduate of South Hills High School, she later continued her education with the American Institute of Banking. Weekend trips with her family to their cottage along Wolf Creek brought her to Slippery Rock, where she met her husband, Frederick James Barron. They married Sept. 1, 1956, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Sue began a career in banking at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh and retired after more than 38 years with First National Bank of Slippery Rock.
She was a member of Friendship Presbyterian Church (formerly Wolf Creek Presbyterian). She was active in the Slippery Rock Heritage Association and served on its board of directors. She was honored through Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow for her community service.
In addition to spending time with her family, Sue enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling; and cherished the many friends with whom she shared these activities.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Carol A. (Kevin) Roth of Clarion and Patricia A. (Charles) Musulin of Portersville; four grandchildren, Joel (Brianne) Roth of Canton, Ga., Brad Roth of Clarion, Kaitlin Roth of Pittsburgh and Kristopher Gross of Thornton, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Jace and Paige Roth.
Also surviving, are her sister, Shirley Bupp of Pittsburgh; brother and sister-in-law, John W. and Claire Barron of Slippery Rock; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
BARRON — Friends of Suzanne “Sue” Barron, who died Saturday, April 8, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Donna Yanosy officiating.
Interment will be at Wolf Creek cemetery.
