The Butler Road Race will continue. Organizers announced Wednesday afternoon the annual race will be conducted by the Butler YMCA beginning next year.

Leaders of the Butler Road Race announced they will be handing over responsibility to the Butler YMCA after this year's race.

According to YMCA officials, the race will continue to run after this year under the same name and direction. Butler Health Systems also announced it will continue to be the primary sponsor for the event.

Mike Franko, the race's president, said he has heard from many people since announcing in January that this year's race would be its last. He said many wanted the tradition to continue, and he is glad that it will.

“We're very happy to have the YMCA step in,” Franko said.
