Paul R. Fallecker
Paul R. Fallecker, 90, of Butler passed away peacefully Wednesday at the VA Community Living Center at the VA Medical Center in Butler.
Born Jan. 18, 1927, in Fenelton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Hoag Fallecker.
On Nov. 13, 1948, he married Dolores Zang, and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. He was a proud member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center.
He was formerly employed by Charles Horewitz Sons in the welding department. He was a life member of the Moose and also the Sinnemahoning Sportsman Club in Emporium. He belonged to VFW Post 6221 and the American Legion in Emporium, in addition to the May Hollow Sportsman Club in Sterling Run.
Everyone who knew Paul knew how he loved life. He loved family, friends, telling stories and was quite the character. Paul enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, gardening and being one-with-nature in his beloved mountain home. He was an avid outdoorsman. He took great pride over the years in building wood stoves and log splitters, along with perfecting his recipes for smoked meats and cheeses.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in the South Pacific. He was present in Tokyo on the day Japan surrendered and has pictures documenting the event.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Zang) Fallecker; his five children, Karen (Ken) Ricciardella, Jim (Chris) Fallecker, Dave (Denise) Fallecker, Patti (Scott) Brandt and Dan Fallecker; 14 grandchildren, David (Courtney) Ricciardella, Marie (Jim) Scott, Diane (Doug) Frederick, Nick (April) Fallecker, Greg (Adrienne) Fallecker, Amanda (Chad) Booher, Mike (Leighann) Fallecker, Richard and Hannah Fallecker, Christie Brandt, Shelly (Joe) Brown, Trisha Brandt, Sarah and Ethan Fallecker; his former daughter-in-law, Terri Fallecker; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fallecker and Sue Green; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being preceded in death by three sisters, eight brothers and one grandson, Paul Ricciardella.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at the VA, especially the VA Community Living Center, for their excellent care and compassion.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. April 29 at St Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler, with the Rev. Matt Mc Clain, pastor.
Military honors will be provided by Chicora VFW, Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legions and the 99 Readiness Command of Butler.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Thomas M. Steighner Funeral Home in Chicora.
