North Carolina man leads police on 'slow chase'

BRADY TWP — A North Carolina man was drunk when he led police on a weekend chase through two municipalities, authorities said.

State police arrested Jason D. Lechner, 45, of Elizabeth City on felony and other charges in connection with the incident that began about 9 p.m. Friday when troopers were called for a disturbance at a bar on Route 8 in Brady Township.

Lechner was seen leaving the bar in a car with a North Carolina license plate before police got there, according to court documents. A patrol trooper, however, soon spotted the car on Hall Road.

The suspect allegedly ran a stop sign and the officer activated his emergency lights and siren, chasing after the vehicle south on Hall Road.
